The sluggish response to the COVID-19 vaccination drive is now taking a good pace as Bharat Biotech injects confidence in Covaxin’s 81% efficacy rate. Government fixed the ceiling price of the vaccine at Rs.250 per shot for private facilities while it would be given for free at government ones.

You can also select your city from the below given list to find covid vaccine centres near you.

The vaccine makers are in full swing and the nation wishes to be free of this deadly coronavirus as soon as possible, hopefully.

Vaccination Cost in India

Dose - ₹150/ shot

Service charge (Private facilities) - ₹100/ shot

Total - ₹250/ shot

Reasons Behind the “₹250 only” Price

1. Affordability of the public

This corona vaccine price has been kept in mind considering vital factors of affordability for masses. Inadequate and high pricing leads to increased hesitancy, further diminishing the willingness of an individual to get vaccinated

2. Bulk orders for vaccine makers

The vaccine makers have already received a large volume of orders and will get more in near future that has directed the government to take this pricing decision.

India’s Dilemma on Considering  Pfizer/BioNTech Vaccine

Pfizer’s vaccine ‘BNT162b’ hasn’t received a grant in India for now. High pricing and storage issues are the major speculated reasons barring the entry of the coronavirus vaccine.

This vaccine is being provided in The US at $19.5 (₹1,440) per shot which is quite a big price for Indians. Though the vaccine makers have agreed to follow differential pricing for India, the government still isn’t convinced.

Serious Adverse Events (SAEs) were also a concern and no such information has been released promising the safety of people.

Covid Vaccine Prices are Subject to Change

All the decisions related to covid vaccine price in India have been taken by the National Health Mission and are subject to change. As of now, there are no changes in the price for phase 2 of the Covid Vaccination Drive.
